And now for the current swell and wind around the UK and
Ireland
:

Welcome to Jimmywindsurf.

Welcome to James Cox's windsurfing website. This website is intended to keep my very keen sponsors up to date with my daily doings, keep them up to date with my progress (or lack of) on the UKWA Wave tour and comfort them that I'm daily putting myself in harms way. VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: I haven't built this for my own enjoyment. I'm not that kinda guy!

james 'coxy' cox

March 2008. Preparing for heading off to Maui for the year's start to training. I'm kind of buoyed up at this stage after hearing about an imminent trip to Baja with Jem Hall this August as well, that Kevin Trejo from Solo Sports is kindly helping us out with. Thanks guys!

I am also currently busy working with my brothers Simon & Tim to put in place plans for a circum-navigation the Isle of Wight this Spring. The website describing the journey will be up and running soon, and any donations to our designated charity would be gratefully recieved through the website.

February 2008.
I'm pleased to mention that Bigsalty - The UK & Ireland's first windsurfing and kitesurfing specific weather site has started building momentum and is experiencing a massive surge of interest. It is different to everything else out there because it is a one stop shop for current weather and swell data, tides, beach information, forecast maps and location forecasts plus it has the first rating systems in place to rate conditions based on not only forecast data such as wind speed/ direction/ venturi/ swell direction/ period etc... but also beach characteristics. Catch your breath.... If you haven't already set up a watch list, get on it and get more from your sessions. Thanks to seasprite for the following article here.

January 2008.
I was pleased to be in my first Slovakian windsurfing article. Apparently it read really well. A big thanks to Jason Stone, Pascal Bronnimann from Ocean4Hawaii and Tim 'with Groundwell' for their help sourcing images etc...

December 2007.
The most uber swell for a long time hit the South coast late December. Enough to suggest Christmas came early for us guys. Myself, Andy King, John Hibbard, Steve THorpe and a few other personel played for well over...actually spent the whole day on the legendary bench moping up mast and a high sets like gravy. What a day!

November 2007.
Myself, Paul Hunt, Jamie Hancock, photographer Simon Crowther and Brendan Pyatt headed off to Norfolk to meet up with a Storm Surge that had the Eastern Broads on high flood alert and made national headlines. While governments were making contingency plans we were out making the most of the conditions and got some epic conditions. The article will be coming mid April in Windsurf magazine but in the meantime, there are some shots in these pages exclusively for YOU!

October 2007.

Regretfully, I was unable to compete at the 2007 Tiree Wave Classic. After savaging my foot from an exploding glass bottle. I'd like to say I was not drunk in charge and my friend Jem Hall, will testify. This means no Tiree for a second year running. Man, it's a curse. Anyhow, this does mean there it dust to kick, and i've got the 2008 Quatro & Ezzy kit ready and it's waiting for the next low pressure to launch.

September 2007.
Heading out to Greece, this September was not such a bad idea had it not been for catching a bit of glass shrapnel and requiring stitches. If it's not one thing it's another.

July 2007.
It has been a fairly windy Summer, and with it plans are constantly being made to make the most of the conditions. WIth the promise of an established low pressure steaming all the way up the British channel. Myself, the King brothers, Jack Hunt, Jamie Hancock and photographers and filmographers Simon Crowther and Brendan Pyatt decided to head over to the Isle Of WIght for a super session at Niton. The conditions turned out to bre pretty good and Niton produced some classic cross shore conditions with half mast to logo high waves. All in summer wetsuit, what is going on? Thanks to Tom Buggy, for arranging the Ferry service.

July 2007.
James signs a deal with Ezzy sails, moving from North (...it was cold up there). I am very (and I mean, very pleased) to be representing Ezzy sails. If you are wondering what is going on with the pictures as you see the remnants of the storm chase (the debry is still being cleared), it's a recent thing, so the photos are on their way. The new 2008 sails are out in the shops details of which can be found on the UK importer Seasprite's website. They are robust, maneouverable and capable of everything you need. If you are interested in freestyle, try them. If you are interested in waves try them. If you are interested in anything make sure it's Ezzy. As Jem Hall, master of the spoken word (although not so hot at the writing part) says: everything is easier with Ezzy.

February 2007.
My girlfriend Lucy and I have recently returned from a windsurfing and relationship survival course in New Zealand. Later this year and article is scheduled for launch in the UK paperack publications about the trip to Taranaki. Needless to say, for all of those who have heard the rumours about the quality of the breaks out there. They remain true!
